Engine running rough
I have a 1997 Avenger ES 2.5 with 138,000 miles on it. Being a former mechanic I make sure I keep on top of maintenance on the car. I got out of the business when I hurt my back and when cars became to difficult to diagnose...LOL
Anyhow, around a year ago the engine light came on, I had the computer code pulled and was told it was an O2 sensor so I replaced it and the light went out. A couple of weeks ago the light came on again and when the engine got hot the engine started to run rough. The light this time started to flash. I had the codes pulled again but this time was told that the code reader (Auto Zone) would not work as there was a fuse that was blown. I have never heard this before and have never had this problem pulling codes. I did some research and saw that some models have 2 OBD plugs, is that true?
Also what possibly could be the problem? I pulled the front 3 plugs and they looked fine. Could it possibly be a coil?
I would appreciate any help as my wife drives the car and is afraid to drive it now.
