2009 Avenger cylinder misfire
I have a 2009 SXT 2.4 liter with 87K miles on it that is misfiring. After the misfires, it can sometimes run sluggishly, and occasionally stall. It started doing it last summer. I ran probably over 6 cans of seafoam through it, and as many fuel injector cleaners, but it didn't resolve the issue. I also replaced the plugs, still didn't help. I did run OBD codes on it last Summer, and am pretty sure it was the second cylinder that misfired (sorry, have misplaced the codes).
I have an hour commute each morning, and the misfires don't happen unless it is a) hot outside, and b) I drive over 70 miles an hour. So, once it cooled down last Fall the issue stopped. Now that it is warming up (live in Iowa), it has started missing again. I have kept it under 65 for about a week and a half, and that has seemed to help but when it gets hotter I'm pretty sure that isn't going stop the issue from occurring.
Anybody know what may be causing this issue to rear its ugly head when the engine heats up? BTW, the engine is not running hot, mind you. Just happens about half way to or from work when the engine has been up and running for 20-25 minutes.
