Steering wheel shakes?

Hi all,

I have a 2010 Avenger 2.4 sxt, 4-speed. Not all the time but sometimes when I hit the brakes the steering wheel will shake.

What causes this? Is this common? Any fixes?

I cannot be the rotors as the shakes would be all the time when going around the rotor.

OH, the tires will need to be replaced before next winter, which I think is odd, as I just bought it a couple months ago, and it has only 33,500 on the odometer.

It's the rotors. Before mine got really bad and shook the car at high speeds, it would shake when I braked. Bet you anything it's the front rotors.

This is the most common problem and it requires tire balancing by qualified mechanic. But in some cases even after tire balancing the vibration problem didn't disappear. So the best way for you is to visit your dealers and get corrected the problem from there.
